Trust Your Destruction

Trusting the process. Did you know that a caterpillar, inside the cocoon, secretes an enzyme (caspases) that completely destroys itself? If you were to open a cocoon too soon, all you would find is a scoop of goop, probably something had gone wrong. ?
_
That goop is wildly fascinating. The way I translate it in the hippy half of my brain is the destruction of ‘what was’ while what remains the same in that goop is what’s called imaginal discs carrying the blueprint to create/rebuild ‘what will become’.
_
Did you read that? It DESTROYS itself. The evolutionary mechanics at work here blows my mind. I have so many questions for this creature that I can only fill in with my own imagination. Like, DUDE…do you know what you’re doing when it’s time to digest yourself from the inside out or are you freaking out during that process?! I’d be freaking out. ?

I’ve been long connected to butterflies, beginning in 3rd grade via GATE (nerd alert) when one of our seminars was trekking nature with a Native American Elder. On our hike he gave each student a spirit guide, mine being a Monarch and I’ve seen one or signs with Monarchs EVERY SINGLE DAY since.
_
It was only a few years ago that my uber talented editor friend (@ann_maynard) called me after editing a book with this metamorphosis detail, exclaiming: this all makes sense for you.
_
Needless to say, I’m even more obsessed; both sides of the brain, hippy side and damn-science-is-cool side.
_
Ugh, so cool! K, I’m done story time’ing now. Gotta get to crushing my day. Thank you, @dorothyclementine for sending me this picture. via @revelatori. #eatplaycrush
