Lots of downloading about current challenges. Lots more uploading of gratitude.

Real talk, meditative things are difficult for me. About 30 minutes in, I get antsy and start seeing how far I can bend/stretch my limbs. I did the same thing when it was nap time in pre-school but I learned to LOVE naps so I’m learning to love this too.

Recorded journaling has been really powerful for me when I’m stuck. What that looks like is that I’ll free-form record a journal entry on my phone in lieu of writing so I can’t edit. Afterward, I’ll take about an hour away before coming back to listen to it.

This forces me to hear myself as though I’m listening to a friend + I can’t bullshit my own voice. To hear what I say, how I say it, where I pause is a humbling and telling act. From that entry, I’ll extract a theme and use that for my meditations until it’s time to do a new entry.

I also use this recorded practice when deciding between different outcomes, recording myself talking about each outcome and what I envision. Playing that back, whichever one sounds more natural/confident/happy tends to be the one I am going to lean towards.

It pleases the hippy in my heart and the rational thinker in my head. Know thyself, mang. #eatplaycrush #quitecontrary
